Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced NYS DEP certified asbestos investigator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in asbestos project monitoring, surveys, and inspections, with experience working in commercial and school buildings throughout the city. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting asbestos-related work in various settings, including commercial and school buildings, and will be required to work independently or as part of a small team.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

• Conduct asbestos project monitoring, surveys, and inspections of buildings, structures, or industrial sites in the five boroughs of NYC to identify the presence of asbestos-containing materials.
• Utilize mobile hand-held technologies to capture field data, information, and photographs.
• Collect representative samples of suspected asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) following established protocols and safety procedures.
• Maintain detailed daily logs of activities related to project work.
• Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal regulations governing asbestos management.
• Travel throughout New York City is expected.
• Prepare detailed field notes, observations, sketches, and other technical documentation.
• Coordinate and implement field activities independently or as part of a small team with minimal supervision.
• Interact professionally and politely with building management and occupants.
  
  

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

• Valid NYC DEP asbestos investigator certification
• Valid NYS DOL inspector certification
• Valid OSHA certification
• Valid driver's license and reliable mode of transportation
• Ability to work a standard 8AM-5PM schedule
• Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to interact with the general public in a respectful manner at all times.
